Microsoft has begun testing the addition of tabs in Notepad for Windows 11. This feature, which was accidentally revealed by a Microsoft employee during the holiday season, allows users to open multiple files in a single window, similar to how tabs have been implemented in File Explorer in Windows 11. The update also includes new keyboard shortcuts and improvements for managing unsaved files. Notepad is the first built-in app to receive this tabbed interface, following the implementation of tabs in File Explorer last year. Microsoft had previously attempted to add tabs to all Windows 10 apps through a feature called Sets, but ultimately cancelled the project and did not release it to users.
In addition to the tabs feature in Notepad, Microsoft is also updating the graphics settings page in Windows 11. This update includes options for GPU preference, Auto HDR, and optimizations for windowed games. The settings page now has the new Windows 11 UI design, and the settings have been revamped for improved ease of use and for the ability to apply graphics preferences to games and apps.
